CORNELL. In the thick weather at the Soo yesterday morning the steamer Mathew Andrews, downbound with ore, grounded on Pipe island near Detour. The Andrews is out one foot on her port side and has twenty feet of water under her starboard side according to one report received yesterday. The tug Sabin was sent to her from the Soo. 8 The steamer McDougall, which is on Duck island, has not been released according, The to information Reliance, received which yes- is working on the McDougall, is the one stationed at the Soo and unless a tug can release the Androws it may be necessary for the Andrews to remain on Pipe island until the Reliance gets through with the McDougall.

Chicago shippers will not have ready to. load all ships chartered to load there next week. The damp weather in the country from which the grain was expected to come has delayed harvesting from ten days to two. weeks and the shippers cannot buy grain as this is the first grain. due to come into the Lake Michigan port.
'It is not at all likely the shippers will be able to load ships due the middle of. this month. Some of the shippers have cancelled charters while others have advised brokers the ships Are likely to be held several days loading if they report in the next two weeks. Coal cargoes are generally as as they were. There are signs of slight improvement along certain lines, but mostly coal not shipped to commercial docks at the principal ports.

Wallace of the A. Bi Smythe realty operators, Erie building, have purchased from Ida A. White, widow of Henry, W. White, the old White farm, a thirtysix-acro tract on Lake Shore boulevard, just east of Bratenahl, known as "Shore Acres," for a syndicate of prominent Cleveland men. The buyers, it was asserted, Intend allotting tho acreage as soon as possible.
It is to be sold through the ofAces of the A. B. Smythe Co. The price paid for the land is understood to be in the neighborhood of $5.000 an acre. The sellers were represented by" J.
Howard Rust. realty dealer in the Williamson building. The property is just eight miles east of Public square and is said to be one of the few remaining undevel-1 oped parcels with a big lake frontage. The principal to to to portion lies on the north side of Lake Shore boulevard just east of E. 102d-st, having a total of 2.530 feet of Lake Shove boulevard frontage, which includes 8 tract on the south side of the boulevard 600 by 116 feet.
The land is to be cut into about 150 lots fronting on Lake Shore boulevard and three additional streets that are to be installed.
